HA NOI — Co Gai Voi Khan Quang Co Xanh (Girl with Green Scarf) by Vietnamese artist Le Pho has been listed among the five most expensive contemporary Southeast Asian paintings at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
The painting has been valued at HK$800,000-1.2 million (around US$100,000-120,000), just behind Magnificent Horses by Lee Man Fong (HK$1.5-2.5 million) and Two Women on a Beach andTahitiby Adrien Jean Le Mayeur Demerpres (HK$1.4-2 million).
The auction will take place next Tuesday, with works by 130 painters expected to sell for a total of HK$23 million.
Painter Le Pho (1907-2001) has 14 paintings for sale.
Other Vietnamese artists selling their works at the auction include Mai Trung Thu with six, Vu Cao Dam with three; and Nguyen Sang; Tran Phuc Duyen; Nguyen Van Ty; Nguyen Trung and Boi Tran with one each. — Viet Nam News
