“ The Melody of Spring”

VDT- Spring flowers- Oil and Acrylic-2011

As part of New Year Celebration, Phuong Mai Gallery and HSBC, in company with Artist Van Duong Thanh, have organized “ The Melody of Spring” Exhibition.

With 18 paintings including oil, acrylic and lacquer on wood, Vietnamese national artist Van Duong Thanh depicted impressions of Hanoi in particular and of Vietnam in general.

VDT-Girl & Lotus – Oil& Acrylic -2012

Harmony, tranquility and joy are common themes in Van Duong Thanh’s uplifting paintings. The sprigs of resplendent flowers at Tet, “The bashful girl beside a lotus bud” or the sparkling colours in “Happiness reflects”…made us experience the variety in lay-out as well as the great emotion in tones of colours.

VDT- Golden bonsai– Oil & Acrylic

A number of her outstanding artworks on this exhibition must be mentioned are “Golden bonsai”- Oil & Acrylic, 50×60 cm- By means of the strong and liberal strokes together with yellow as the theme colour, she describes shaking classifier for flowers, so viewers could perceive moisture and sweet perfume on each petal. The light grey-blue colour manifests Spring drizzle.

VDT- Yen Phu Town- Lacquer on wood -2011

Especially, the set of “Hanoi Town” paintings records memories about ancient towns, such as: Tran Vu Temple, Yen Phu Town,…All of them plunges in the grey-blue colour with wonderful gold-inlaid or silver-inlaid sky. The old motley walls are expressed by pieces of in-laid eggs in hot and cold tones, which makes viewers feel the real uneven of these buildings. The viewers seem to return to ancient times with dreamy flavour, light and melody.

The exhibition will open on 24 February, 2012 and last to 3 March, 2012 at 235 Dong Khoi, Dist.1, HCMC.
