2. How did you become an artist? Your start, what made you interested in art?
I enjoyed drawing since I was young. I went to learn drawing, competed in fine arts, painted continuously, sent my paintings to festivals and competitions. I was impressed by summers with schoolgirls after schooling, confidences. I had many difficulties from the start, and then everything became better.
3. The style of your art works?
I like to contemplate artworks of impressive artists such as Gauguin, Van Gogh, which have affected me more or less. I like my original paintings with a realistic, impressive style a little bit.
4. What was the artist’s inspiration, your mentor or idol?
My family, especially my daughter, is the source of my inspiration to create artworks. My idol is senior in the Literature group in Phu Tho Province, especially Artist-Sculpturer Nguyen Luong as well as Artist Le Thiet Chuong.
5. What makes this artist different from others in Vietnam? What makes you different and special compared to others?
As a matter of course, I love my homeland. My theme, which I am developing, is fresh and modern in comparison with other artists.
It is not true that anyone who learned drawing from a teacher has not been affected by his teacher’s style. I, myself, am creating a new style.
6. How do you view Vietnam; and the outside world?
Vietnam is a country with historical and cultural thickness with 54 ethnic groups, expressing a plentiful culture. I am especially impressed by Vietnamese schoolgirls wearing Ao Dai, which belongs only to Vietnam.
7. What are your likes and dislikes?
Like young people, I enjoy freedom and liberality and dislike being affected and defined. This is shown in my paintings with blazes of colors, a little bit profound.
8. Why did the artist utilize this medium or style?
Oil paint has been used for many decades. Artists in the Renaissance were successful in using oil paint for their artworks. Oil paint is very suitable for my expression in art.
9. What is the artist trying to communicate in your art works?
If you have a common message or ideology for all of your works, please state it.
Impressed by bright summer with schoolgirls whispering after schooling, I want to show pure white. Autumn, schoolgirls, and flowers are the main points in almost all my paintings.
10. Any hidden meanings behind your artworks? Is there a message? Is it something political or personal…or some other feeling or thoughts?
My paintings are pure, with bright colors, somewhere serene, with modern streets as well as schoolgirls who bring a peaceful message.
Emotion for each painting is different; I can sublimate at sudden moments with rainy or sunny streets.
Streets in my paintings are not only old but also modern. Those streets have many people with their conditions of life and different confidences…
11. What is the artist’s ideology and views on art?
For me, schoolgirls with summer and autumn are always beautiful.
12. Who are you and why should people purchase and collect your artworks?
I only draw what I understand thoroughly, something that can express my emotions.
I love my artworks with all my soul.
