Certain images are not consciously chosen as visual motifs; over time, they become enduring hallmarks of an artist’s practice. For Cao Thi Duoc, one of those images is the moon.
Family memories, the sound of the moon lute beneath the moonlight, the waterways, and the rhythms of Southern life have long nourished her artistic practice. Gradually, these familiar images have come to embody her personal experiences and reflect the imprint of time.

A spirit of optimism runs throughout Cao Thi Duoc’s paintings. Rather than simply depicting reality, she reimagines familiar scenes through emotion. Her bold, contrasting palette, balanced by neutral tones, together with her rhythmic handling of form and composition, transforms everyday subjects into deeply expressive works.
