“…Le Thanh is one of the rare artist who is mentioned by the late artist Le Van De – being the first in the graduation examination of Hanoi Fine Art College in 1930 and also the Ex-Director of Saigon Fine Art College – because he violated “the school regulation”. However, he brought the honour to his school with 5 prizes in 3 years 62-65 when he was student. The most impression prize: Awarded “the Scholarship to France” with the work “Say goodbye” in The Exhibition of International Fine Art 1st in Vietnam in 1962.
Since then, after graduated, during 1960s, Le Thanh and the “violated-the-school -regulation” student-group ( meant who weren’t allowed to take part in the exhibition when they haven’t left the school yet) are the outstanding faces and achieve success, awarded a lot of Big Prizes through the Fine Art Exhibitions in and out country.
For Le Thanh’s individual, the talent question was answered immediately: He is a child who followed in his father’s footsteps, his Uncle and Paternal Uncle are 2 famous artist Le Pho and Le Yen, his Maternal Uncle is Do Dinh Hiep and he is also a younger brother of a talented artist Le Chanh. Loyal to the Néo-Classic tendency, Le Thanh infused the romantic reality trend to his works by liberalizations.
Le Thanh is a rare artist who is introduced in “World Freedoom” newspaper in 1963, after mentioned to analyze the palette of the world affairs works such as “Say goodbye, Midnight sad, Physical, Condition…etc. The newspaper article said: “While describing the spleenish feelings, the heart-breaking of mankind by color, curves and lay-out, Le Thanh have been carrying an aspiration to see the breaking of a new horizon, a new open society in which is no longer the poor classes living under maltreatments…”
