In this season, the rain in Hue city are incessant continualness. It’s not only makes the man’s heart  to be sad, the time have settle down and prevent  any outside  activity, but the rain also has created a pensive look for this city.

Imagine if a few month without continuous rain, what Hue city will look like? People will wonder "how strange it heaven!". In other words,  Hue almost rain all year round, different point is  light rain or heavy rain merely. Because of heavy and persistent rain. So, “Hue rain” can be call  one of the "speciality"  is at once “hate”,”love” and “remember”.

In this year, Hue has known paradoxes the advantage of rain-storm season to develop the tourism.  A series of programs, festivals and painting exhibitions will occur on the wettest months of the year. In this occasion, the triple-artist: Phan Thanh Binh- Dang Mau Tuu- Le Nhuong want to present the color of rain in Saigon to the public through the paintings which were painted by acrylic on canvas when itself  is not really the sad grey as people think. Eventhough anyone has ever said that rain is fun but with the artist, rain is not completely sad. The artist also sometimes needs to “paint” the rain,could be the colors that bring gentle sorrow, could be briliant color. All of them are like simple wishes but deep down latent inside are an aspiration to live optimistic and happy.

If it wasn’t for this “mark of rain” exhibition, viewers wouldn’t understand why Hue artists would rather use acrylic than oil to paint. The property of acrylic is that it’s very easy to dry which is suitable with the whole year wet kind of weather in Hue. It is also the beauty of  Hue line of painting that nowhere can have, sparkle with colors and attract viewers with the soul of Huong river, Ngu mountian.  

Come to this exhibition, eventhough being busy to manage the Hue Fine Arts Colleges, the artist Phan Thanh Binh still spared his time for painting. Not presenting many paintings but each of his works is a quiet specific characteristic and present his serious spirit of working. In “Shadow of time” collected by Phuong Mai Gallery is pieces of pure colors combined with shapes, plump nuance, which made it seemed like the shadow of time slightly gone by, reflected bright delicate and misterious pieces,… 

Dang Mau Tuu artist is not an idle man, the time is very important to him. Although he is  the chairman of Hue Culture and Arts Union Association, he still spends his time for creation. All of colors and strong brush are painted on canvas, simple about subject. What made him emotion can become painting. We can feel in his painting of liberal strokes, high-faluting with poetically silhouettes and full of love as well as the emotional life. He said: “ What I also can love, but evil…”.

With Le Nhuong artist, rain is not only colors, see the series of his paintings “convergence” this time, but also we will see "rain sound" like echoes from vaporous subconscious, sometimes brimful fog or gathered in one place, such as immense river,…. stone music instruments in the rain ... whether resounding or deep inthought, mark is still in on each stone, rough deficient of the time ... The philosophy of the convergence, the universe and human lifes, in their own way make their mark in our viewers. Thank three artists from Hue City, who tried to overcome the stormy life, rain sources, more irregular weather as well, to bring for the viewer more beautiful artworks.
